Helical Anchors & Piles

At Helical Piles Australia, we manufacture industry-grade helical anchors and screw piles designed to perform in Australia’s diverse soil conditions. Our patented welding technology and rigorous quality control ensure structural strength, reliability, and long-term durability.

How it works

Also known as helix anchors, screw anchors, or helical piles, these deep foundation systems consist of engineered steel plates (helices) welded to a central steel shaft. The thickness, diameter, and number of helices are customised to suit project loads, soil conditions, environmental exposure, and design life requirements.

Helical anchors are ideal for both new builds and foundation remediation. They are commonly used in infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, lighthouses, telecommunications, and other applications where rapid installation and minimal disturbance are essential. Their unique design allows them to handle both compression and tension loads effectively.

When Are They Used?

Helical anchors are the go-to solution when standard foundations are not suitable. They are particularly effective in areas with poor soil, high water tables, or where moisture exposure is prolonged. These anchors provide a deep foundation alternative when traditional footings cannot achieve the required load-bearing capacity or durability.

Key Benefits

  • Quick and easy installation in almost any weather condition

  • Environmentally friendly with a reduced carbon footprint

  • Minimal soil disruption and no spoils or waste

  • Low vibration during install, ideal for sensitive structures

  • Lower overall foundation costs

  • Easily removed or relocated if required

Installation Process

Helical anchors are installed before a new foundation is poured, or to reinforce an existing one. The anchor is screwed into the ground using hydraulic equipment. Based on the soil conditions and project needs, it is then connected to the foundation with brackets or couplings. Once installed to the correct torque depth, the system provides immediate load-bearing support, ready to resist both compression and tension forces.

How Many Anchors Do I Need?

The number of helical anchors required depends on the structure’s size, load requirements, and the recommended spacing between piles. Each site is different, so we assess the design needs before confirming the layout and quantity.

What Do They Cost?

Helical anchor pricing depends on several variables, including:

  • Site location and accessibility

  • Soil condition and depth of installation

  • Type and size of structure

  • Load requirements
